What are we looking for?

IO is looking for people who are passionate about their community, arts and local interests and have an enthusiasm to make and create their own radio projects or podcasts.

No previous experience is required. We will work with you to identify the subject of your content and develop it in accordance with national radio guidelines. We can teach you production techniques with the flexibility to record at home.

We would love to hear from people who have a genuine enthusiasm for the creative arts, the local community, sports or current events.

What can we offer you?

We aim to provide the first step into the world of broadcasting. Our objective is to open the door to further media opportunities for those who have been historically underrepresented. We offer specialized radio training to record, plan and create content.

IO is committed to developing new voices and supporting entry to media opportunities. As a volunteer/DJ we will continue to support you throughout the process of making content and work with you to develop your own individual voice.

About IO Radio

IO is part of the wider ICM and South Street Studios partnership, a group of community based social enterprises that work in music, media and the creative arts to support and improve access for some of Ipswich’s most disadvantaged communities.

Based in one of the most diverse wards in the county, we deliver training and learning in digital media, music and ESOL. Our facilities include a recording studio, rehearsal rooms, live venues in addition to multiple radio studies.
